"Pure-tone auditory thresholds are decreased in depressed people with post-traumatic stress disorder"
Journal of Affective disorders.
Funding for this research was provided by CNRS (National Public Center for Sceintifc Research in France www.cnrs.fr ) and TOMATIS DEVELOPPEMENT S.A.
The Air Conduction and Bone Conduction pure-tone auditory threshold measurement may provide new and different insights into the aetiology and evolution of depression.
It was thus subject to a peer review by other scientists. It shows that is a particular, and important, link between the difficulty in perceiving certain sounds and the existence of emotional troubles. The interest in stimulating the brain, thus allowing it to hear these sounds more easily, consequently becomes obvious.
